Bedfordshire Stakeholder Forum - 26 Feb 2014   You are here: Home » Bedfordshire Stakeholder Forums » Stakeholder Forum - 26 Feb 2014

The first Bedfordshire stakeholder forum meeting was held in Bedford on Wednesday February 26.  Thanks to all who attended.  It was a lively meeting with plenty of constructive debate – a really good start to our stakeholder forum sessions.

Forum members were welcomed by two of the local GPs who lead BCCG: Dr Paul Hassan Chief Clinical Officer at BCCG who practices at Priory Gardens, Dunstable and Dr Peter Parry Okeden, Vice-Chair of BCCG and Chair of the Bedford Borough locality, who practices in Bedford. They explained how the review will help clinicians develop new ideas for local health services as the population expands and people live longer.

Dr Diane Bell, Director of Strategy & System Re-Design at BCCG, followed this by outlining the clinical and financial issues connected with providing healthcare for a growing and ageing population in which many people are managing one or more long-term conditions.  The review will examine the challenges posed and look at how healthcare could be organised to deliver better health outcomes and higher quality care.

The Forum then split into four smaller discussion groups to look in-depth at planned care, urgent care, long term conditions, and children’s and maternity services. Participants rated current healthcare services in Bedfordshire and discussed what could be better.

More than 60 local residents and those representing organisations in Bedfordshire attended the forum launch.  Photographs taken on the day follow below.
