Carers Cafes – June 2014   You are here: Home » Bedfordshire Community Groups » Carers Cafes – June 2014

BCCG were out gathering feedback on local health services at Carers Cafes in Biggleswade on 7 June 2014 and Bedford on 28 June 2014.

Carers Cafés offer a sociable environment where carers can relax in a friendly atmosphere and meet others in a similar situation.

Biggleswade carers said they found that people were helpful overall and took time to talk, and thought Bedford, The Lister, Luton & Dunstable and Stevenage were good hospitals. There were concerns that sometimes they felt rushed and that more time should be spent with patients. The problems of not being seen by the same doctor were also highlighted.

In Bedford, there was praise for Bedford's Carers' Lounge, Milton Keynes' walk-in centre and Hinchinbrook hospital's easy appointment system. However, carers raised concerns about waiting times at Bedford Hospital, access to GPs and transport. They also recommended that carers should be registered and have their role taken more seriously.

You can read a summary of the feedback from both sessions in the ’Your feedback’ section on the right.
