Bedfordshire supermarkets 2014   You are here: Home » Bedfordshire Roadshow 2014 » Bedfordshire Supermarkets 2014

The BCCG team has been busy gathering people's views at supermarkets across the county.

We took the Healthcare Review to the following stores during April and May 2014, and spoke to a wide range of people of all ages who told us their views, concerns and hopes for healthcare in the future.

  • Friday 4 April – Asda, Biggleswade
  • Tuesday 16 April – Sainsbury's, Clapham, Bedford
  • Thursday 18 April – Sainsbury's, Dunstable
  • Wednesday 23 April – Waitrose, Ampthill
  • Thursday 8 May - Tesco, Sandy

People told us that they thought local hospitals like Bedford, the Lister and Luton & Dunstable gave a generally good service. They had a good response from A&E and thought the area’s GPs were easy to see and took time to listen.

However, there were concerns that A&E was being used as an out-of-hours GP service, that there were long waiting times for appointments and parking at hospitals was difficult and expensive.

The people we spoke to gave us some very useful pointers for improvement, such as more out-of-hours GP services and better use of funding, but they acknowledge that the NHS does a good job under difficult circumstances.

You can read a summary of all of the feedback we had from our supermarket visits on the right.
